Biophysical Inventories & Assessments

Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
Steve designed and directed Species at Risk assessments at 9 federal facilities in BC, and completed a final report summarizing the findings of the literature reviews and field surveys, and provided recommendations to maintain compliance with SARA and other applicable regulations for the protection of rare and sensitive species and habitats.

Steve led endangered species surveys at Army installations in the Midwest under a large multi-year contract. For instance, he designed and implemented a survey for the endangered Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) at an Army depot in Indiana. He collected habitat data prior to the survey to significantly refine the data collection effort. The survey identified four Indiana bats – the first occurrences documented in Vermillion County – as well as two different maternity colonies on the property.
