Deltaport Container Facility, Roberts Bank, BC
Served as senior technical advisor during the implementation of a 3 year adaptive management program during construction and operation of a new shipping berth. Developed a comprehensive adaptive management program, coordinated performance monitoring activities, and advised during surveys of surface water and sediment quality, benthic community composition, eelgrass distribution, and migratory and sensitive seabirds and shorebirds.
BC Ministry of Transportation, Delta, BC
Designed terrestrial and aquatic monitoring programs for the construction and operation of the South Fraser Perimeter Road in Delta. The program included performance monitoring of mitigation activities and trend analyses to identify negative impacts on sensitive aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, ecological processes, and provincial and federal threatened and endangered species.
Northwest Territories Power Corporation, Canada
Implemented an environmental monitoring and mitigation program to control erosion and the release of potentially contaminated sediments at the Snare Forks Hydroelectric Facility, located near Yellowknife. Design and installed interim and permanent sedimentation and erosion control measures, and developed a re-vegetation plan to address the exposed and eroded channel slopes. A water quality monitoring program was established to monitor water quality at and downstream from the facility. Successfully supported the client during negotiations with Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
Sooke Basin Creosote Study, Canada
Project management of the monitoring phase of a long-term, quantitative study of contaminant fate and transport, biotic uptake, and ecotoxicity associated with creosote-treated wood piles. Coordinated and facilitated stakeholder meetings, facilitated communications among multiple funding partners, and assured subcontractors met the expectations of the funding partners and stakeholders. Coordinated and participated in senior technical reviews of the draft and final survey reports.
Dallesport Wastewater Treatment Facility, Washington, USA
Completed a biological evaluation for a proposed wastewater treatment facility and evaluated impacts to federally listed salmonids and their habitats from subsurface discharge of treated effluent to the Columbia River. The evaluation evaluated effluent toxicity and temperature ranges using a hydrological model of heat dispersion and found that the effluent would not adversely affect threatened and endangered salmonids in the area of concern.
